Job Description: This position provides assistance to Minnesota Pollution Control Agency staff members who are responsible for coordinating the Eco Experience at the Minnesota State Fair. The position will complete tasks related to event communications, logistics, set up, and on-site management. Position duties include: - Organizing volunteer and partner data - Writing event communications - Assisting with exhibit set up and event logistics - Assisting with on-site presentations
The duration of this position is through completion of the Minnesota State Fair.
Minimum Qualifications: College student majoring in biological science, physical science, communications, composition, public relations, or other closely related fields. (To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker you must be a student enrolled in an educational program or planning to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as student workers, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. As a student you must be enrolled in high school or in a post-secondary or graduate program. If a student is enrolled at a credit-granting institution he/she must carry at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, a student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load shall be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.)
Requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. Even though the weights being lifted may only be a negligible amount, a job is in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.
Requires a Class D Driver's License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the a gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to work both independently and with others.
- The ability to take initiative in completing work assignments.
- The ability to research and organize information.
- Functional computer skills: word processing, spreadsheet, and database.
