1. Conference Registration Opens June 15
Get ready...get set...for the 2012 NAAEE conference in Oakland, California, on October 10-13, 2012, with the 9th Annual Research Symposium preceding the conference on October 9-10. It's the 41st annual conference, and we'll be "Gaining Perspective: Seeing EE through Difference Lenses." We are putting the final touches on the registration invitation and reviewing a staggering 700 plus proposal submissions as we prepare to launch the opening of the conference registration website. Looking forward to seeing you in Oakland in October!

3. Students Learning Environmental Stewardship Improve Science Scores
Science test results of 463 students in Louisiana show the students that received horticulture lessons and participated in a restoration project scored higher than the students in a control group.

4. Sustainable Schools as Capital
Professor William Scott explores the question: "How can we know how effectively the development of the sustainable schools is progressing?" in this research and uses the metaphor of capital where the work of sustainable schools can be thought of in relation to natural, built, human, and social capital.

5. Spring of Sustainability: Free Three-Month Telecourse
Online and live events through June 22, 2012
The Spring of Sustainability (SoS) series of live, online, and teleseminar events will offer educators the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by the world's top pioneers of sustainability. Produced by the Shift Network in partnership with the Sustainable World Coalition, the SoS is the world's largest-ever sustainability events program. Five days a week, for three months, leaders from all walks of sustainable living - from green activism to green lifestyles - will share their insights and sustainability solutions.

6. Arkansas EE Association Expo and EE Fest
July 26-27, 2012 ~ Fayetteville, Arkansas
The two-day workshop qualifies for up to 12 hours of Arkansas Department of Education professional development and will include field trips and workshops on Thursday and presentations and speakers on Friday. The event will feature presentations on environmental education programs and projects from across the region, keynote address, door prizes, and a silent auction.

7. Earn Credit While You Learn Outside
Join the Chesapeake Bay Foundation for a five-day adventure on the Bay or one of its tributaries in Summer 2012. Teachers can earn recertification or graduate credit while they learn how to integrate the environment into their classroom and help students achieve success as environmentally literate leaders. CBF is offering more than 30 courses that will explore the mountains of Virginia, the rivers of Pennsylvania, the islands of the Bay, and many places in between. Courses provide an experience that equips teachers with the knowledge, tools, skills, and confidence to use the local environment in their classroom. Participants receive a $1500 scholarship, bringing the course fee to $300 per person. Registration and course descriptions are available at:
