Recycle Bowl is Back!
The 2012 Recycle-Bowl registration database is now open. The competition will be held October 15 to November 9, 2012. Registration will close Tuesday, October 9, 2012. The first 1000 schools to register will receive a Recycle-Bowl coordinator toolkit. The toolkit will include Recycle-Bowl competition posters, lesson plans, a library book, etc. Plan now to participate!
The competition is open to all elementary, middle and high schools. Public, private and charter schools are eligible. Recycle-Bowl participants will track and report how much material (cans, bottles and paper) they collect during the four-week competition timeframe. One school in each state (and Washington, D.C.), that collects the most recyclable material per capita, will win $1,000. A national champion will then be chosen from the top statewide winners to receive a grand prize valued at $2,500. Schools that host a community recycling drop-off program will compete in a separate category for first-, second- and third- place cash prizes.

You will go through the process of creating a Re-TRAC Connect account and then register for the competition. To get started go here - https://connect.re-trac.com/register/recyclebowl. Just remember to use an email address without a high spam filter and type your school's name in correctly as it will appear as-is on the Recycle-Bowl website. Once you create an account in Re-TRAC Connect, you will receive an email from them to activate your account and return to the system to fully register. The second step is to complete the "Recycle-Bowl - Registration Information" form. It has around 10 required questions regarding your school recycling program. You can save it and return to finish it later, but not until you hit the "Submit to Program" button have you fully registered for the competition. A How-To Guide can be found here (http://recycle-bowl.org/wp-content/uploads/R-B_New_User_Registration_Guide_2.pdf).
You will utilize your login and password from last year to register in the database system for this year's competition. To login, go here - http://connect.re-trac.com. If you have forgotten your password, you can have it emailed to you from the login page. Your login is your email address. A How-To Guide can be found here (http://recycle-bowl.org/wp-content/uploads/R-B_Registration_User_Guide_for_Past_Participants_2.pdf).
For those that want to register more than one school:
Perhaps you are a parent with children in two different schools or you are a community wide recycling coordinator that provides recycling services to multiple schools, you can now register more than one school using one login email address. A third How-To Guide can be found here (http://recycle-bowl.org/wp-content/uploads/R-BRegistration_for_Coordinators_of_Multiple_Schools_2.pdf). If you are new to the Re-TRAC Connect database, you will first need to make an account however.
