- Naturalist
Anoka Co Parks and Recreation Dept - Wargo Nature Center
Hugo, MN
The Wargo Nature Center has an immediate opening for a part-time (35 hours per week) Naturalist who will be an integral part of environmental education, cultural and recreational programming. The Wargo Nature Center offers extensive programs throughout Anoka County and is located in Lino Lakes. The work for this position includes some evenings and weekends.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY):- Coordinate, implement and promote environmental education and recreational programs to schools and other community organizations.
- Work with summer day camp program, school break programs, home school, pre-school, and Naturalist in Schools programs.
- Curriculum development of and staff training for educational programs.
- Act as a presenter for the Heritage Lab and Wildlife Outreach Programs.
- Create and implement innovative and exciting weekend public programs and coordinated displays.
- Ability to teach outdoor recreational activities such as a kayaking, canoeing, team building, rock climbing, and XC skiing.
- Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:- College degree or equivalent in environmental education or related field.
- Experience in developing and delivering environmental education and recreational programs at either residential or day use environmental education center.
- Experience in day camp programming.
- Ability to work with diverse groups in flexible working environment.
- Interest in the outdoors.
- Ability to organize, work both independently and as part of a team and keep detailed records.
- Some work with pre-school aged children.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
- Ability to perform all essential position functions.
SALARY: $10 - 13/hour
