Bike With a Ranger Bike with a Ranger is a great way to get exercise, breathe some fresh air, and learn about the human and natural history of one of the world's great rivers--the Mississippi River. This summer, the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area will again offer ranger-led bike rides on Saturdays during July through September and selected Thursdays in June and July. Join National Park Service rangers on a bicycle ride along the Mississippi River and across the Coon Rapids Dam. The 8- to 12- mile rides include stops along the way to learn about our National Park on the Mississippi River. These three hour, family friendly, rides feature stops where rangers talk about history, natural resources, and recreational opportunities of the area. We will uncover the rich history and natural resources while biking the trails along the River from Coon Rapids Dam to Banfill Locke/Manomin Park. Bike rental available at the Coon Rapids Dam Visitor Center, 763-757-4700 (first come, first served). Limit of 20 bicyclists. Appropriate for all ages. We can also set up rides at additional times for interested groups: scouts, day care, bike clubs, etc. Contact Ann Sarnecki at 651.290.3030 x234 for more information.
