Abstract RAD, an 8th grade curriculum on Radon Awareness and Detection is now available from the American Lung Association of Minnesota (ALAM). The seven-session program of lectures, student exercises, and support materials, is designed to educate students about radon, it's sources, health risks, detection, and prevention,--especially in the home. Curriculum components are a teacher's guide, a video, poster, slides, handouts, and five radon detectors. The curriculum was developed by the American Lung Association of Minnesota for the Minnesota Department of Health. It has been reviewed by (and with contributions from) teachers throughout the state and is class room tested. The curriculum incorporates lessons in personal and environmental health, geology, geography, the legislative process, legal issues, business, and ethics.
