The National Science Teachers Association is accepting applications for 2014-2015 New Science Teacher Academy - Deadline: August 22  This professional development initiative was created to help promote quality science teaching, enhance teacher confidence and classroom excellence, and improve teacher content knowledge. It is geared to second through fifth year middle and high school science teachers. The Academy provides each teacher with a year-long, discipline-specific mentor, web-based content development courses and more!  More info

Now's the Chance for K-8 Teachers to Get Project WILD and Project Learning Tree Guides  Project WILD and Project Learning Tree (PLT) are hosting a workshop on August 11 from 9-3 at River Bend Nature Center in Faribault. This workshop, based on these award-winning environmental education programs, will focus on activities for K-8 students and will include projects, crafts, and games related to Minnesota state standards. You can only get these activity guides by attending a workshop.  More info

The Nature-Smart Career: 11 New Jobs For a Nature-Rich Future  What if high schools and colleges helped students create a nature-rich future, helped them become outdoor entrepreneurs? Recycling Bin Grants and Innovation Grants available to Ramsey County schools  Ramsey County is offering two grant programs -- school recycling bin grants and innovation grants -- to help schools and non profits increase recycling and reduce waste. The School Recycling Bin Grants provide public K-12 schools with recycling bins. The Innovation Grants fund programs that increase waste reduction and residential recycling efforts, initiate residential composting programs, and address other waste issues. Applications accepted through the end of 2014.  More info

Apply to present at the Minnesota Naturalists' Association (MNA) Conference - Deadline: August 30th  The 2014 MNA Conference: Plugging into Nature will be held November 21-23 at the Audubon Center of the North Woods in Sandstone. The conference is an annual gathering of naturalists, interpreters, environmental educators, administrators, teachers, volunteers, and interns. Please consider sharing your knowledge!  More info
