EPA is Accepting Proposals for the Environmental Education Grants Program - Deadline: February 2  Under the EE Grants Program, the EPA seeks grant proposals to support environmental education projects that promote environmental awareness and stewardship and help provide people with the skills to take responsible actions to protect the environment. This year, the EPA will issue two Requests for Proposals (RFP): the EE Model Grants RFP (available now) and the EE Local Grants RFP (available in early winter).  More info

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency offers Aprons for Reuse and an Exhibit for Loan  In the name of reuse, the MPCA has 40 remaining aprons available for an individual or group that can give them a new life and put them to use. The aprons are dark green, heavy duty, and have printing on the front but can be reversed and used plain or screen printed. The MPCA also has a "Trees Clean Our Water" table-top exhibit available for loan until August 1, 2015. Both items are available at no cost, first come, first serve.  More info

Grants Available for Schools Looking to Start or Improve a School Garden - Deadline: December 2  Annie's offers grants to school gardens that connect children directly to real food. Funds can be used to buy gardening tools, seeds or other needed supplies. Two types of grants are awarded: $500 to start a new program or $1500 to improve an existing program. Eligible entities include schools and nonprofit organizations that focus on school and community gardens or sustainable agriculture.  More info

Schools Invited to Apply for Green Ribbon School Award - Deadline: January 5  Is your school conserving energy, promoting fitness, and getting students outdoors for environmental studies? The Green Ribbon Schools Awards from the U.S. Dept. of Education recognizes schools, districts and higher education institutions that save energy and reduce operating costs, create environmentally friendly learning spaces, promote student health, and incorporate environmental sustainability into the curriculum.  More info

Free Program for Schools to Reduce Waste and Cost in their Lunchrooms  Jeffers Foundation and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency are promoting a FREE program to help you reduce waste in school lunchrooms. The Waste Reduction Awareness Program (WRAP) has an easy-to-use web-based guide that can help schools identify sensible opportunities to reduce waste and save money. The program includes a 30-question self-assessment, case studies of schools that have successfully implemented the WRAP, and resources for improving your program.  More info

Wildlife Nation Website Offers Ideas and Tips to Connect Kids with Wildlife  Wildlife Nation is an online program from the National Wildlife Federation devoted to connecting kids of all ages with wildlife and nature. This on-the-ground community of adults teams up with kids to go outside and do activities like creating habitat, planting trees, or other team inspired activities. The site has ideas for Things to do; Places to go; Developing Happier, Healthier, Smarter Kids; learning about Wildlife; and more. You can sign up to be on a team or just find resources on their website.  More info

Waste reduction and recycling resources for schools  The Recycling Association of Minnesota offers several free resources to help schools recycle and reduce waste. 1. Customizable signs for recycling, trash, and organics, 2. Grants for recycling bins, 3. Web resources to help you find recycling options for unique school items such as old books and crayons. 4.
