Colleges and Universities Invited to Apply for a Campus Activation Grant - Deadline: November 25  Outdoor Nation and Aramark are awarding FIVE schools $3,000 each for the best ideas that engage their campus and communities in outdoor recreation. The grant program will run over the course of the spring 2015 semester - allowing schools to build a strong connection between their campus communities and outdoor recreation through campus-wide activation, community outreach and support of public lands.  More info

Free Aprons Available for Reuse  Going....going....almost gone...In the name of reuse, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has 40 aprons available at no cost for an individual or group that can give them a new life and put them to use. The aprons are dark green, heavy duty, and have printing on the front but can be reversed and used plain or screen printed.  More info

Free Program for Schools to Reduce Waste and Cost in their Lunchrooms  Jeffers Foundation and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency are promoting a FREE program to help you reduce waste in school lunchrooms. The Waste Reduction Awareness Program (WRAP) has an easy-to-use web-based guide that can help schools identify sensible opportunities to reduce waste and save money. The program includes a 30-question self-assessment, case studies of schools that have successfully implemented the WRAP, and resources for improving your program.  More info

Wildlife Nation Website Offers Ideas and Tips to Connect Kids with Wildlife  Wildlife Nation is an online program from the National Wildlife Federation devoted to connecting kids of all ages with wildlife and nature. This on-the-ground community of adults teams up with kids to go outside and do activities like creating habitat, planting trees, or other team inspired activities. The site has ideas for Things to do; Places to go; Developing Happier, Healthier, Smarter Kids; learning about Wildlife; and more. You can sign up to be on a team or just find resources on their website.  More info

Waste reduction and recycling resources for schools  The Recycling Association of Minnesota offers several free resources to help schools recycle and reduce waste. 1. Customizable signs for recycling, trash, and organics, 2. Grants for recycling bins, 3. Web resources to help you find recycling options for unique school items such as old books and crayons. 4. Recycling Bin Grants and Innovation Grants available to Ramsey County schools  Ramsey County is offering two grant programs -- school recycling bin grants and innovation grants -- to help schools and non profits increase recycling and reduce waste. The School Recycling Bin Grants provide public K-12 schools with recycling bins. The Innovation Grants fund programs that increase waste reduction and residential recycling efforts, initiate residential composting programs, and address other waste issues. Applications accepted through the end of 2014.  More info
