Looking for safer school supplies for your children this back-to-school season?  Tests revealed 80 percent of children's back to school supplies sampled contained phthalates - chemicals harmful to children's health. Phthalates are used to soften vinyl plastic for products like backpacks, lunchboxes, 3-ring binders, etc. This Back-to-School Guide to PVC-free School Supplies offers alternatives in over 40 product categories.  More info

Here's an opportunity for teachers to establish an herb garden  The Herb Society of America has established two herb garden grants for teachers in grades 3-6. Public and/or private teachers with a minimum of 15 students may apply for an indoor or outdoor herb garden grant. Schools can apply for indoor herb growing stations or $200 "Seed Money" to establish an outdoor herb garden. Application deadline is October 1st.  More info

Welcome to our newest SEEK Partner - Children's Country Day School  Children's Country Day School is a nature-based preschool located on 7 acres of pasture and woodlands in Mendota Heights. In April of 2009, Children's Country Day School became the 18th certified "Nature Explore Classroom" in the nation. In our Nature Explore Classroom, children instinctively interact with natural components and gain important learning skills as they play.  More info

Would your school like to create an outdoor edible orchard/classroom with fruit trees?  The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation donates orchards to schools and other organizations where the harvest will serve communities for generations. Their "Fruit Tree 101" program creates outdoor edible orchard classrooms at public schools to provide students with environmental education opportunities and a source of organic fruit for improved school lunch nutrition.  More info

Nominate an outstanding project or person for Recycling Association of Minnesota (RAM) Awards - Deadline: Sept 5  Every year, RAM recognizes the environmental stewardship efforts of community groups, businesses, public entities, and individuals that benefit the communities in Minnesota via the RAM Awards. Applications are currently being accepted for 4 award categories: 1. Green Project Award, 2. Public Service Award, 3. Recycler of the Year, and 4. Denise Kolar Award.  More info
