Cell Phone Recycling

Resource type: Web Site
Topics: Recycling - Conservation - Environmental Health - Education

Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is a permanent collection point to collect and recycle unwanted cell phones. 100% o the funds received for these recycled cell phones are donated to The Orangutan Conservancy, a non-profit organization that is helping one of the most critically endangered species on earth - the orangutan.

Recycling cell phones also prevents toxic phone batteries from harming our earth when land-filled and reduces the need to mine coltan, a product used in making cell phones which often is illegally mined in the areas of Africa endangering the gorilla and their habitats.
