The Dodge Nature Center is a non-profit organization operating a 300 acre nature preserve that provides environmental education and outdoor experiences for thousands of people each year. Established in 1967 to insure that elementary school children would have the opportunity to learn about nature in an outdoor setting, the Dodge Nature Center's primary mission is environmental education for children in grades K-6. Over the years, the Center has expanded its programs to include outdoor education and activities for pre-school children, families, and adults. The Dodge Nature Center's land is characterized by a variety of habitats that support diverse plant and animal life. Six miles of trails on three parcels of land wind through rich woodland areas dotted with ponds and streams, past restored prairies, and across a floating boardwalk that provides access to a marshland area. Other facilities include a model farm, apple orchard, apiary, teaching laboratory, maple syruping building, classrooms, and offices.
